The Alinea restaurant complex opened in 2005 in Chicago. Since its opening, it has been a favorite of American foodies. The reason for its wide popularity is simple – great culinary experiments from chef and co-owner of the restaurant Grant Ashatz.

Aschatz is heir to a family line of chefs, and from a young age he worked in the kitchen of the family restaurant Achatz Depot in the small town of St. Clair. Ashatz has extensive experience with wines, having spent several years helping winemakers in California.
About the restaurant
Alinea’s establishment is outwardly inconspicuous, located on a quiet North Halstead street near Lincoln Park behind a plain gray metal door. The first floor of the building is fully occupied with kitchen utensils and modern high-tech appliances, instead of the usual gas stoves.
In total there are three dining rooms in the restaurant, a small room – next to the kitchen on the first floor, two large rooms – on the second floor. The interior design of the facility is calm and laconic. Classic chocolate tables are emphasized by white napkins, comfortable upholstered furniture with silk decorative cushions create a cozy, in their own way “homely” atmosphere. The guest dishes are made of classic white porcelain.
Cuisine and specialties of Alinea
The restaurant offers its guests two main menus: a short one with 13 courses and a large one with 24 courses. There are also versions of the short and big menus for vegetarians. There are 25 chefs and 22 waiters at the restaurant.
Prices in Alinea restaurant are high, but the taste of dishes and the level of their presentation are worth it. Exquisite specialties from the chef include – mustard sorbet with passion fruit, whipped honey cream, granulated sauces, marzipan pieces frozen in liquid nitrogen.
Spectacular serving dishes are based on original dishes, similar to the laboratory glass, porcelain and metal instruments.
